Signs Your Child May Qualify For SSI Benefits
Your child may be a candidate for SSI if one or more of the following applies:
Frequent hospitalizations or emergency room visits · Frequent absences from school · Use of adaptive devices or equipment · Difficulty walking, running, or with physical coordination · Difficulty with fine motor skills such as writing · Difficulty expressing thoughts or understanding language · Trouble with behavior or discipline at school · Attendance at an out-of-district school or need for a one-on-one aide · Side effects of medication that limit daily activities · Developmental delays in any area compared to peers
If your child has a serious physical or mental condition and you're not sure whether they qualify, call us. We'll give you an honest answer at no charge.
Understanding The Appeals Process
After a denial, you have 60 days to file a Request for Reconsideration. If denied again, you have 60 days to request a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge. For South Jersey claimants, hearings are held in Pennsauken, NJ. Most favorable decisions happen at the hearing level — this is where cases are won. If needed, we also handle Appeals Council reviews and federal court appeals.
Your child deserves support. We'll help your family get it.
