Cathy Brackin has been advocating for the injured and disabled of Gloucester County since 1985. Graduated Montclair State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1979; received Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University - Camden in 1984.

Admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives.

Miss Brackin directs and teaches in the Christian Education program at her church and resides in Camden County.

Social Security Disability
Tip of the Day

Even though drug addition and alcoholism are diseases, Social Security doesn't see it that way. If substance abuse is found to be "material" then the claim will be denied. In other words, a claimant must prove that he would still be disabled if he stopped using.

Spent the day in Blue Bell, PA at a conference for Social Security attorneys. Racked up some continuing legal ed hours and added a few more weapons to my arsenal.

Major League Baseball has changed the name of the "disabled" list to the "injured" list. What do you think and what does the term "disabled" mean to you?
