Residents of Guam, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands and American Samoa are not eligible for SSI. A set of twins, one of whom residies in Guam, have filed lawsuits challenging this. All Social Security offices, including hearing offices, will be closed on Weds., Dec. 5 to honor the memory of George H.W. Bush. I'm glad I don't have any clients scheduled for hearings that day.

Although it is not a federal holiday, the Social Security offices are closed today.
