If You are Approved for Social Security Disability

You will receive a monthly benefit based on your past earning. Retroactive benefits are payable for the time you waited for the appeal process. Benefits can go back as far as one year prior to your initial application (after five-month waiting period). Your unmarried children under age 18 may also be entitled to monthly cash benefits.

Once you have been eligible for Social Security Disability for 24 months, you will become eligible for Medicare.

Good news for my clients who are waiting for hearings. Two judges from other states have recently transferred to the So. Jersey hearing office. Three new judges were hired late last year. That brings the total from 6 judges to 11 (although one will be retiring at the end of 2018). I am noticing reduced wait times!

Last day in Atlanta attending NOSSCR, a national conference for SS attorneys. I arrived early to see the sights. Interesting sessions on MS, cardiovascular conditions, how to discredit SS’s doctor. More learning today, then back to NJ to put it to use
